General McCrystal came under heavy fire for his remarks regrading members of the Obama administration. Many feel that four stars around ones collar entitles you to an opinion on the subject matter of war, especially if your the head officer leading the coalition...while thats true, it doesn't justify a soldier failing to respect the chain of command and McCrystal like any other soldier be it grunt or commander is subject to the level of professionalism that comes with the job.
You would never see a Marine officer on the front page of every newspaper for remarks like that. While I respect McCrystal...letting him slide will only send a message saying 'yes, the military demands respect but in some instances we'll let you get away with insubordination'
Better to resign than be dishonorably discharge...sir
