Ive been with the Red Cross for almost a year now. In regards to Haiti, I think that foreign aid is going about things the wrong way. You cant air lift supplies into an area without some form of organized distribution. Otherwise, the strong, the powerful, the dominant will secure the resources and turn around building political power while 'they' distribute it. The younger generation wont know that The U.S is the one sending in supplies, all they see is this guy with a machete handing out band aids and water at his discretion.
If you study military history, you'll see that this is beginning to look a lot like Somalia and worst case scenario, those in power (meaning those with the resources and supplies) can easily manipulate the weak to surcome to 'their' political, religious and moral views. If it sounds familiar its because that was the origin of the Taliban.
My suggestion is that aid continue to be inserted into the nation however, someone should oversee to an equal and fair distribution. Otherwise the riots and looters will continue to spiral the country into a deeper sinkhole.
Darkness sees no fault. No human imperfection as far as genetics are concerned. Shadows cannot lie, for their very being is an absolute image. Reflected only in the presence of light, yet there is no prejudice. The still of night carries with her a sense of peace, every whisper amplified yet each word lost in translations. Oh how long shall the shadows I've so long embraced play garment,cloak to my eternal night?
